Screen Not Showing on Projector? Fix It Step by Step

A blank projection usually means the projector is on the wrong input, the connection is loose, or your device is not sending video to an external display. Start with the simplest check: open the projector’s input menu and select the HDMI port or wireless connection you are using. If you see the projector’s menu but not your device’s screen, focus on the connection and display settings rather than the lamp or lens.

Reseat the HDMI cable at both ends, then try another HDMI port or a cable you know works. If you use a USB-C adapter, confirm that your computer or phone supports video output through that port; not every USB-C connection does. Power the projector on first, reconnect your device, and wait a few seconds for them to recognize each other.

A connected computer may still be set to use only its built-in screen. On Windows, press Windows + P and choose Duplicate or Extend; on a Mac, open System Settings and check Displays for the projector. If the projector appears but stays blank, try a lower resolution or refresh rate supported by both devices.
For wireless screen mirroring, make sure the projector and your device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network when the feature requires it. Open the projector’s screen-mirroring mode before selecting it from your device’s casting menu. Streaming apps with content protection may show a black screen even when menus and other apps display normally; in that case, use a compatible streaming device or the app available on the projector.
Connect a different laptop or streaming device to the same projector input. If that device displays correctly, revisit the original device’s adapter, cable, and display settings; if neither works, test another projector input. For more setup and compatibility guidance, see the 4K smart mini projector guide.
Connect your device and choose the matching projector input. Then enable screen mirroring or select Duplicate or Extend in your computer’s display settings.
Reseat the connection and select the correct input. If an image appears but looks unstable, try a resolution and refresh rate the projector supports.
Your computer may be set to display only on its built-in screen. Choose Duplicate or Extend, and confirm that any USB-C adapter supports video output.
Check that the projector is powered on and can show its menu. Then try a known-working cable and another source device to identify which part of the connection is failing.
